Another non-blog...

I call it a non-blog because it is obviously not a particularly exciting event that I am writing about.

Up early and out to the front to continue the renovation of the front fence. Once again hot, [26 C?], dirty and dusty. We are slowly getting it in shape. What we are doing is cleaning up the 60 year old gum- wood posts, renewing the rails and painting them. It is then our intention to put back up the ornamental wire and paint it while in place. It has already been prepped with an anti-rust product.

The heat is a killer, really. We knocked off at noon and got cleaned up. Some of us had a nap and rest while Lyn prepared for a BBQ in the evening. Four other local couples were invited. This was to be the first time Rod used the brick BBQ that him and neighbour Bert made a year and a half ago. We used scrap wood and gum wood trimmings from the fence posts. The BBQ worked well, the food was ample and delicious and the desserts were over the top.

We did have several uninvited guests though, that famous Australian Fly tormented us until it cooled off and the sun went down. We then retired to the house where we were entertained ,[Fellette and I], by their strange [to us], Australian sense of humour.

Everybody seemed to agree that the flies were about the worst ever. [Or are they just saying that?] I must say that flies are better than wasps though!
